2015 ENCORE ENTREPRENEUR SUMMER OF MENTORING
The U.S. Small Business Administration and AARP are again teaming up to host National Encore Entrepreneur Summer of Mentoring targeting entrepreneurs over the age of 50.
Although the event is targeted to entrepreneurs age 50 and over to provide these “encore entrepreneurs” with resources to start or grow a small business, the event is open to all ages.
With one in four individuals ages 44 to 70 interested in becoming entrepreneurs and 63 percent of Americans planning to work during retirement, small business ownership is a viable option. Starting a small business may allow an individual to transform their hobby, interest or professional experience into an income.
The SBA has business resources and tools to help all entrepreneurs start and grow their business at any stage of their life. Partnering with AARP helps us connect with Americans over the age of 50 who have years of experience in the workforce and are ready to step out and become their own boss.
The event will help connect encore entrepreneurs with representatives and mentors. SBA and AARP will provide the training and mentoring services these individuals need to successfully start and grow businesses in order to create jobs. AARP, SBA’s network of Small Business Development Centers, SCORE, SBA lenders, Procurement Technical Assistance Centers and other resources can help throughout the life of an entrepreneur’s business. Small business owners with long-term counselors see bigger sales, hire more workers and last longer.
