ROCKFON Breaks Ground on Acoustic Ceiling Tile Plant in Marshall County, Miss.

Jackson, Miss. – Less than four months after announcing plans to locate in Mississippi, officials from ROCKFON and state and local leaders gathered today to break ground on the company’s $42 million acoustic ceiling tile manufacturing plant in Marshall County, Miss. The new facility will employ 90 workers at full capacity.

“Today is a great day for Marshall County, as ROCKFON prepares to begin construction of its new acoustic ceiling tile facility. Once complete, the company’s significant investment and creation of new jobs will have a strong positive effect on the local community and economy,” Gov. Phil Bryant said. “I congratulate the ROCKFON team and everyone involved in bringing this great company to Mississippi on this milestone event.”

ROCKFON is constructing a 130,000-square-foot addition at the existing ROXUL facility in Marshall County, which is located on more than 100 acres within the Chickasaw Trails Industrial Park.

“The investment in this new facility demonstrates the strong commitment of our company to support the North American market and the state of Mississippi and Marshall County to support economic development in the area,” said John Medio, ROCKFON’s president of the Americas. “It is a historic day for ROCKFON, and we are immensely proud to be locating our first North American manufacturing facility in Mississippi.”

Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance in support of the project for infrastructure improvements and workforce training. The Appalachian Regional Commission also provided assistance for infrastructure improvements. Marshall County and Tennessee Valley Authority assisted with the project, as well.

“ROCKFON’s groundbreaking marks an important step toward the creation of 90 new careers for the people of Marshall County, and MDA salutes the company for moving expeditiously to bring these jobs online,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough Jr. “We congratulate the Marshall County Board of Supervisors, Marshall County Industrial Development Board, TVA and ARC on this exciting day. Their teamwork with MDA was instrumental in ROCKFON’s decision to locate in Marshall County.”
